Watchtowers
Watchtowers are 1.0 exploration towers that clear fog on the surrounding map and register as Fast Travel pins. Climb one when you enter a new biome, then walk the revealed chunk for eggs, dungeons, alphas, and resources.
They are not Great Eagle Statues and not Pal Effigy / Lifmunk shrine collectibles. 1.0 also removed the decorative statue from the top of tower-boss roofs so those roofs read cleaner on the map.
Filter Fast Travel on Map. Effigies, Eggs, Dungeons, Alphas, Towers, and Crude Oil are separate layers.
Official context: 1.0 / 1.0.5, level cap 80, four surface regions plus a separate World Tree map (World).
What activating a Watchtower does
| Result | Detail |
|---|---|
| Fog clear | Reveals the surrounding terrain chunk |
| Fast Travel | Adds / unlocks a travel pin at the tower |
| Map layer | Appears under Fast Travel, not under Effigies |
| Tower bosses | Separate Syndicate / faction towers; different loop (tower order) |
You still need a flying mount, glider, or updraft path to reach many platforms.
How to clear one
- Pin the approximate coordinates on your map.
- Approach from cover if the biome is hostile (Feybreak anti-air, Sunreach gaps).
- Climb or fly to the platform. Many sit on tall pillars; height matters more than the XY pin alone.
- Interact with the statue / terminal on top.
- Confirm the Fast Travel unlock, then filter Fast Travel on Map so you can chain the next biome.
Count and regions
Community maps commonly list about 22 Watchtowers across Palpagos, Feybreak, Sunreach, and the World Tree. Counts and labels move between map projects. Confirm on your client and pin what you actually unlock.

Sunreach and World Tree
Community guides disagree on whether Sunreach and World Tree pins share the main Palpagos coordinate frame. Treat every number below as soft and confirm against your on-screen pin.
| Common name | Approx. coords (community) | Region |
|---|---|---|
| Sunreach Watchtower | often cited near -292, -1494 (some maps use a different frame) | Sunreach |
| Dusty Ravine | often cited near -1596, 1498 | World Tree |
| Gilded City Ruins | often cited near -1862, 1377 | World Tree |
World Tree is a separate in-game map (World). Switch maps before you hunt those two pins.

Route tips
- Clear the nearest Watchtower before you start a long egg or dungeon sweep in a new biome.
- Pair Watchtower unlocks with basics exploration habits and the tower bosses in order ladder so travel pins stay ahead of story gates.
- On Feybreak, respect anti-air before you commit a flying approach (Feybreak, Oil Rigs).
- On Sunreach, unlock travel altars and the Watchtower early so island hops do not reset your fog (Sunreach).
- Crude Oil and Egg layers stay separate; fog clear does not replace resource pins (Crude Oil).
Common failure modes
- Hunting Effigies when you meant Watchtowers (wrong map filter).
- Treating a tower-boss roof as a Watchtower unlock.
- Pasting World Tree coordinates into the Palpagos map frame.
- Flying into Feybreak anti-air on the way to a high platform.
- Skipping Watchtowers and wondering why half the biome stays dark.
