Defense sits at 2 with two storage slots, and the in-game description says it is a wooden shelf for storing items that can be placed on a wall. Reach for it when you want early wall slots that skip organ farms and still sit beside Wooden Shelf before iron and antique wall storage.

Recipe: Wood ×20 + Stone ×5. Twenty Wood and five Stone are light early sinks, so long shelf runs still finish beside the workbench with no Paldium in the recipe and no organ mats to chase.

Carry Wooden Wall Shelf for early corridor racks, workshop wall stashes, and any wood slot where two Defense 2 wall slots beat empty walls beside Wooden Shelf. Park Wood and Stone before Tech 5 night so the craft is one trip. Figures are for Palworld 1.0.5; recheck Tech level, craft counts, slot count, and Defense in game after a later patch.
