Treat it like the Makeshift Handgun story: a scrap-built rung that opens the AR lane before refined mats arrive.

Recipe: Ingot ×70 + Fiber ×60 on a Weapon Workbench. Seventy Ingot is the gated mat, so park ore and coal beside fiber baskets before unlock night. Keep a Fiber buffer, because Fiber also feeds cloth and early gear crafts that compete for the same pile.

Carry Makeshift Assault Rifle for mid towers, field clears, and fights where Mag 15 rapid fire beats single-shot pacing at mid range. Graduate to Assault Rifle when Tech 45 and refined weapon mats are online, and keep this scrap rifle as a spare while Polymer and Carbon Fiber catch up.
