Improved Furnace

Tech Level 34 for four points. It's the midgame hearth that finally opens Refined Ingot without waiting on a full electric bay.

Build with Stone ×100, Cement ×30, Flame Organ ×15, and Cryogenic Coolant ×5. Workload is commonly near 30,000, so plan a Handiwork push the day you unlock it. One Kindling Pal runs the station; you don't need a Generating Electricity worker here, which is why it lands before powered smelting feels ready.

It smelts Charcoal, basic Ingot, and Refined Ingot (commonly Ore ×2 plus Coal ×2). Throughput is often cited around 1.5× a Primitive Furnace, enough to stock refined metal for armor and early electronics without camping the fire.

Electric Furnace later takes over for Pal Metal and the heavy alloy load. Keep Improved online as the Refined unlock and a backup hearth until your power grid can carry the electric upgrade without brownouts.
