Hot Spring
Tech around level 9 for two points, and one of the first real sanity tools you unlock. Build costs vary across guides; a commonly cited recipe is Wood ×20, Stone ×15, Paldium Fragment ×7, and Aquatic Pal Fluids ×3.
Pals walk over on their own when SAN is low. You don't assign a bath shift. Put the spring somewhere central so workers can reach it between jobs, and place more than one once the base gets large enough that pathing across the whole yard becomes the bottleneck.
High Quality Hot Spring lands around Technology level 31. The upgrade commonly costs Wood ×50, Stone ×50, Cement ×10, and Cryogenic Coolant ×3. It restores SAN harder than the basic spring, which matters once Monitoring Stand and long Handiwork shifts start chewing morale. Pair springs with steady food so hunger isn't undoing the soak. Ancient Hot Spring is the endgame mention later; you don't need it to keep a midgame base healthy.
