If you sat down for a Palworld Official Card Game demo before retail launch and walked out with a free deck, you didn't get a Trial Deck. You got a prototype.
Bushiroad called it a product under development. Shops and conventions handed it out as the teach-you-to-play gift. Collectors now track the printings as Palworld Prototype Cards on our site, set code PROMO-NFS. Fifteen unique cards. No booster box. No shelf SKU.
How people actually got them
The path was simple: play a demo, keep the deck, while supplies lasted.
Anime Expo 2026 (July 2–5 at LACC, Bushiroad booth) said it out loud. Finish a Palworld OCG demo and you could take a prototype deck home. Bushiroad EXPO Chicago and the broader Demo Caravan used the same idea. Official Demo Caravan copy framed the prototype deck as the participation reward through July 29, 2026, alongside a foiled Chillet Soul promo and Bushi Navi flair.
From July 30, 2026 on, that reward flipped. The prototype deck stopped. New demos got a foldable deck case instead, and the Chillet Soul and flair stayed. We already covered the current Demo Caravan bundle in the Demo Caravan writeup. This piece is about the older free deck itself.

Not for sale, not a retail product
These were never meant to sit next to Trial Decks at MSRP. Official materials treated them as demo and convention rewards. Our checklist catalogs the set as Palworld Prototype Cards, matching the name TCGplayer uses. Listings you see now are secondary market only: opened playsets, incomplete giveaways, people who sat the table early and kept the pile.
If your copy has a hard "NOT FOR SALE" mark on the card or packaging, treat that as a physical tell on that copy. The stamp is why sellers tag these Not For Sale. We don't have an official stamp guide for every photo floating around online.
Are they legal to play?
Short version: treat them as playtest and demo cards, not as a constructed legal pool.
Community tables and collectors already talk about them that way. Official rules pages we checked for this draft don't spell out a tidy ban list line for PROMO-NFS. Retail product also differs from the prototype, which is the point of a prototype. If you care about sanctioned events, bring retail printings. Keep the demo pile for the binder and the history shelf.
What's in the deck
Our PROMO-NFS set page lists 15 unique printings. Community counts from opened convention decks (shared on Reddit in July 2026) fill in how many copies sat in a typical free pile. That count list is community-sourced, not an official PDF. Names match our checklist.
Pals (4× each in community lists)
Lamball, Cattiva, Foxparks, Grizzbolt, Pengullet, Chillet, Chikipi, Relaxaurus, and Jormuntide Ignis.
Soul (10×)
Soul Card.
Event / gear / structure (community counts)
Reckless Charge ×2 (event), Mounted Machine Gun ×2 (gear), Pump Action Shotgun ×2 (gear), Primitive Furnace ×4 (structure), and Single Shot Rifle ×4 (gear).
Add that up and you land around a 60-card teach pile: enough to sit across from someone and learn the game without buying product first. Early hands-on coverage of the WIP demos already named a lot of the same cards: Lamball, Cattiva, Foxparks, Primitive Furnace, Single Shot Rifle, Chillet, Jormuntide Ignis.
Collecting them now
The giveaway window is closed. That makes PROMO-NFS early OCG history more than it makes it a product you can order.
On our PROMO-NFS page you can track the 15 printings, live singles, and a master-set total. As of September 6, 2026 the page showed a Total Set Value around $1,424 for one of each unique printing. Chase names on that list tend to be Chillet, Jormuntide Ignis, Relaxaurus, Grizzbolt, and Reckless Charge. Prices move. Trust the live page over this paragraph.
If you're hunting a full physical demo pile with the 4× / 10× / 2× counts, you're shopping people, not Bushiroad. Expect incomplete lots, mixed conditions, and listings that confuse these with retail Trial Decks. They are not the same thing.
Quick FAQ
Is this the same as a Trial Deck?
No. Trial Decks are retail starters. Prototype decks were demo and convention rewards before (and briefly around) launch.
Can I still get one from Demo Caravan?
Not as the free deck. After July 30, 2026 the official reward shifted to the foldable case. See the Demo Caravan article.
Where do I check prices?
PROMO-NFS. Fifteen printings. Live singles. Master-set total on the page.
