Palworld 1.0.4 is out. Campfires finally chill.

PalGuy · September 7, 2026

Lamball from Palworld

Pocketpair dropped Palworld v1.0.4 today, and it's the kind of patch that makes your next session feel smoother before you even notice why. New story beats on Mount Obsidian, a Palpedia you can actually search, campfires that stop lighting your whole squad on fire, and a long fix list that quietly cleans up World Tree progression, Arena fights, and more.

If you're mid-run in Sunreach or still poking at the World Tree, update first. Then come back for the highlights.

Two new sub-missions

v1.0.4 adds a short mission chain that starts at Fisherman's Point on Mount Obsidian.

Talk to the NPC there for Beyond Dimensions. Clear that, and From the Far Side of the Moon opens as the follow-up. It's a neat little side path if you've already been living around Obsidian and want something new before you dive back into bases and bosses.

Nothing here replaces the main story. Think of it as a fresh breadcrumb trail after you've already got boots on the mountain.

QoL you'll feel tonight

A few of these will hit the second you load in.

Campfires finally behave. Player-built Campfires no longer set you, your summoned Pals, or your Base Pals on fire just for standing too close. That alone is worth the patch note. Late-night base fiddling just got less spicy.

Palpedia name search. You can search by name now, which is huge if your collection is getting tall. Pocketpair also added Work Suitability detail explanations in both the Pal status UI and the Palpedia UI, so those icons finally explain themselves instead of making you guess.

Cancel craft, keep your mats. When you cancel work at a production facility, materials go back to your inventory. If you've got the "don't auto-pick up over weight limit" option on, canceling construction or dismantling still respects that: only the overweight leftovers drop at your feet. Less inventory tax for changing your mind.

PC default FPS cap is 120. Small line, big feel. If you've been fighting the old default, this one's for you.

Echoing Flute is droppable from inventory now. The Pal Critic swaps are live too: Sakurajima wants Dogen instead of Selyne, and Sunreach wants Faleris Aqua instead of Bastigor. Ancient Bark gather also drops to Work Suitability Lv. 1, so more of your early crew can help haul it.

Under the hood, Pocketpair trimmed rendering, foliage, and effect load, cut stutter when some passives fire, and lightened field rendering around the World Tree. Your frame times should complain less.

Fishing, combat, and Radiant Gems

Fishing in Sunreach and the World Tree area got a difficulty pass, and bait yields were rebalanced across types. While you're on the line you'll see clearer control guides, warnings, and recommended equipment. World Settings also pick up a new toggle: Fish Behavior During Fishing Minigames. Worth flipping if your server crowd likes the minigame spicy or chill.

Combat AI got smarter in the ways that matter mid-fight. Summoned Pals and Base Pals now prioritize skills that should deal higher damage. Charging-type skills on Base Pals behave better. Mission targets (Pals and NPCs) won't nod off mid-objective anymore, which is the kind of fix you only notice after it's bitten you once.

On the skill side, Power Bomb's minimum use distance moved so you get fewer weird repeated backsteps before it fires, and summoned Pal backstep on some skills was cleaned up. Core Eject on the Core Eject Shotgun took a damage tweak.

One drop fix that World Tree farmers will care about: Radiant Gems from wild Pals up there were coming out with mismatched or overly biased elements. That's patched. If you've been chasing clean element rolls, this is your green light to farm again.

There's more texture in the margins too: Lapure swimming speed, Lunaris Effigy homing values, Oil Rig and elemental chest audio, updrafts, terrain and water display around Sunreach and the World Tree. Server admins get a per-player building limit setting, plus tighter no-build zones around desert Field Boss Suzaku, the desert Main Mission cave, and some Sakurajima mission spots when building restrictions are on.

The long bugfix list

Pocketpair shipped fifty-plus fixes. Here are the ones that change how a session feels:

  • World Tree Guardian / Panthalus order. If you beat Panthalus before progressing the Main Mission, the Guardian could fail to show up later. Fixed.
  • Grintale mutated eggs. Mutated Eggs buffed by Grintale's passive now correctly carry mutated stats. Idiosyncratic mutation and Lucky's defense bonus also got repair work.
  • Mercy Hit on ride. Mercy Hit now applies correctly to attacks from Pals while you're riding.
  • Arena revive. Pals revived in the Arena keep fighting instead of standing there like furniture.
  • Watchtower map unlock. If you unlocked a Watchtower but the map around it stayed dark, visiting that same Watchtower again unlocks the fog.
  • Co-op guild join and host mission progress from client entry areas got cleaned up. Arena targeting against the opponent's Pal works again. Killamari Primo's Partner Skill Lv. 2 and Lv. 3 effects were swapped back to the right levels. World Tree boss warning indicators, Raid Boss stagger/summon quirks, and a bunch of crash/control-lock issues (connection errors during load, fishing spot despawn anims, long mission text, Pal sorting on servers) are in the pile too.

For the full ledger, read Pocketpair's Steam news post for v1.0.4. If you're hunting how-tos after you update, our guides hub is a good next stop.

Go grab the patch, warm up by a campfire that won't roast your Lamball, and enjoy the quieter World Tree run. Thanks for reading. Update your game.
