Legends Awaken Won't Dethrone Chillet. It Might Hand It a Bigger Crown.

Chris from Palworld Center · October 26, 2026

Legends Awaken drops Friday, Oct 30. The full English card list is out, and we read all of it.

Everyone keeps asking the same thing: does this set end Chillet's reign?

Short answer: no. The long answer is below, with card text so you can argue with me properly.

What's in the box

100 base cards. 164 printings in total once you count the parallels (SR, SP, OSR and SSP).

The 100 split cleanly: 24 Red, 24 Blue, 24 Green, 24 Purple and 4 Colorless. By card type it's 59 Pals, 16 structures, 13 gears and 12 events.

Every card is up on Palworld Center now: Legends Awaken card list.

What's new

〈Legendary〉. Frostallion, Frostallion Noct and Jetragon carry it. Printed text: "Only 1 〈Legendary〉 Pal with the same card name can be put into your base." There's also a support package that only cares about Legendary: Foxcicle, Jolthog Cryst, Nox, Tombat and the set's namesake event, Awakening of Legends.

Rules note from the official JP Q&A, as checked in our play engine: you can deploy a second same-name Legendary. The older one goes to the graveyard at check timing (Q110/Q111). So it's a replace, not a block.

Night and 〈Nocturnal〉. Chandelier and Fine Bed mill your top 3 to make it night "until the end of the opponent's next turn." Nocturnal Pals get Power+300 at night. Purple can build a real plan around the clock.

Gambits. Axel's, Victor's, Lily's and Zoe's. Four RR and R events with big, swingy effects. Zoe's is the one that matters, and we'll get to it next.

Interrupt everywhere. Nine base cards in this set carry Interrupt ("Nullify the opponent's attack. Battle damage does not occur"), across all four colors plus Colorless Eikthyrdeer. Expect more blocked swings and slower games.

Seven cards that matter

Zoe's Gambit (EBP02-094, RR, Purple Event, ◇6). "Choose all Pals, and put them into the graveyard." That's it. That's the card. All Pals, both sides. It's a true board reset aimed at go-wide boards, and it's Purple.

Frostallion – Everlasting Rime (EBP02-025, RR, Blue Pal, ◇8, 1500 Power, Strike 3). Legendary. "Reduce the cost of Pals in your hand by 2. It does not become ◇0 or less from this ability." And at end of turn, "draw until your hand has 4 cards." Blue gets a cost engine and a hand refill on one body.

Frostallion Noct – Eternal Darkness (EBP02-073, RR, Purple Pal, ◇8, 1500 Power, Strike 3). Legendary. "All of your other Pals get Power+500." And at end of your turn, "your opponent discards until their hand has 4 cards." Mean. Very Purple.

Jetragon – Legendary Guardian Dragon (EBP02-097, RR, Colorless Pal, ◇8, 1700 Power, Strike 3). Legendary. Exile two ◇7+ Pals from your graveyard for Vigilance this turn, and if both were Legendary, stand up to 3 Legendary Pals. Biggest body in the set. Also a Dragon. Remember that.

Stun Baton (EBP02-043, R, Blue Gear, ◇8). On deploy, rest up to 1 Pal, and "That card does not stand during your opponent's next stand phase." Then a rest-to-buff ACT that draws a card if you have a ◇5+ Pal.

Kitsun Noct – Umbral Prowler (EBP02-078, R, Purple Pal, ◇6, 1200 Power, Strike 2). Nocturnal. On deploy, "choose up to 1 ◇7 or greater Pal, and it gets Power-1200 until end of turn." It won't send the Pal to the graveyard by itself, but it turns a big body into a pushover for your attack.

Rocket Launcher (EBP02-018, R, Red Gear, ◇8). "Choose up to 3 Pals, and deal 1000 Damage." Then rests for Strike+1. It's Red's answer to wide boards, and unlike Zoe's, it only hits one side.

Honorable mention: Katress Ignis – Scathing Counter (EBP02-002, RR, Red Pal, ◇6). Interrupt from hand, and with 6+ souls it comes back from the graveyard in the rest state.

Who wins, who loses

Start with where things stand. Palworld Center's meta page tracks 49 published official decklists right now. Archetypes: Blue/Purple Control 26 lists (13 champions), Blue/Red Control 11 lists (7 champions), Purple/Red Control 7 lists (4 champions). The other 5 are spread thin: Blue/Red Midrange 2 lists (1 champion), and 1 list each of Blue/Green Midrange (1 champion), Green/Purple Control (1 champion) and Blue/Green Control (no champion) (official results).

Chillet – Dragon Whisperer is in 39 of those 49 lists, second only to Reindrix – Icy Gaze (40).

Players are saying it out loud, too. One tournament report from Oct 21 went 3-1 at a challenger cup with BP (Blue/Purple) Chillet on both sides of the bracket (post). A Japanese challenger cup winner on Oct 25 beat a Blue/Purple Chillet deck on the way to first (post). Another player asked flat out what "can actually beat Chillet Dragons" (post).

We don't have verified win rates for Chillet, so we're not quoting anyone's guesses. What we have is play rate, and it's enormous.

Here's how each archetype comes out of the set:

Blue/Purple Control (the Chillet home). It gains the most. Frostallion, Frostallion Noct, Stun Baton, Zoe's Gambit, Kitsun Noct and Nox are all in its two colors. That's not an answer to the best deck. That's a care package.

Blue/Red Control. It gets Frostallion and Stun Baton on the Blue side, and Rocket Launcher, Orserk and Katress Ignis on the Red side. Real upgrades, and Rocket Launcher gives it a one-sided way to clear small boards.

Purple/Red Control. It gets Zoe's Gambit, Frostallion Noct, the night package and Rocket Launcher. If anything sneaks up on Chillet, I'd look here first.

Green. Mammorest, Quivern Botan, Electric Kitchen and the Ingredient engine (Beegarde, Mill, Dumud). Green gets toys. Does it get a tier-one deck? I don't know yet.

So, does Chillet's reign end?

No. Not on paper.

Here's why. Chillet – Dragon Whisperer (EBP01-025) reads: "Reveal the top card of your deck, and if it is a ◇8 or less Dragon Pal, you may deploy it." The deck lives on Dragons.

Legends Awaken adds five more Dragon Pals, all ◇8 or less:

  • Orserk – Thunderclap Roar (EBP02-001, Red, ◇8)
  • Chillet Ignis – Ember-Clad Dragon (EBP02-004, Red, ◇5)
  • Relaxaurus Lux – Party Time (EBP02-010, Red, ◇7)
  • Quivern Botan – Meadow's Grace (EBP02-054, Green, ◇8)
  • Jetragon – Legendary Guardian Dragon (EBP02-097, Colorless, ◇8)

Jetragon is the scary one, since it's Colorless and a Dragon. That's a free 1700-Power deploy off a Chillet flip.

Chillet Ignis is a Dragon that discards a Dragon to deal 700 Damage. One player already called it "garbage" but said it "can even make the cut" because it's a Dragon (post). Fair.

Cards that answer Chillet:

  • Zoe's Gambit wipes every Pal. The catch: it's Purple, and Chillet decks are mostly Blue/Purple. The best deck gets the best answer.
  • Kitsun Noct shrinks a ◇7+ Dragon by 1200 for a turn.
  • Stun Baton locks one Pal down through a stand phase.
  • Katress Ignis and the other Interrupt Pals buy a turn. A turn, not a win.
  • Rocket Launcher hits up to 3 Pals for 1000 each. Good against a wide board.

None of them touch Chillet's engine itself. Nothing in the set punishes revealing, deploying from the deck or playing Dragons.

Cards that boost Chillet: the five Dragons above, Frostallion's cost reduction, Stun Baton, Zoe's Gambit and Frostallion Noct. Most of the set's best Blue and Purple cards land in the colors Chillet already plays.

My take, and it's a take, not a result: Chillet doesn't get dethroned. Its decks get rebuilt around new toys. If someone breaks it, my bet is Purple/Red with Zoe's Gambit and Rocket Launcher. Ask me again after the first real tournaments.
